Scott,

I don't know how much of the site you checked out but I started the MySpellingSucks site as a way to think through my daughter's concerns. My oldest has Cerebral Palsy. She is highly functioning but we still have to spend a lot of time and effort helping her to be the best she can be. I can only imagine what you have to deal with being at home with a dependent but you are obviously a fantastic dad. Thanks for coming by and leaving a message. I'm always happy to chat.

I write articles as The Special Needs Dadvocate, so I really appreciate you gathering this information and including kids with special needs.

On a personal note, I found myself wanting to answer the questions based on what I want to be, rather than who I really am. I actually stopped, and changed some answers that were not really accurate. I also wanted to explain why I answered a question a certain way. For example; My main job is to take care of my 20-year-old daughter with disabilities; I love her unconditionally, but the truth is, I don't like it being my job. It is very difficult to go from a cool career in advertising to a certified nursing assitant-stay at home Dad. I love being a Dad who advocates for kids with special needs. I love being so comfortable with my abilities in the DD arena. But in truth, I don't love being at home so much.

Thanks for the survey and a place to be real.

Peace,
Scott

My daughter is not my biological child. I have been with her mother since she was two years old. I mean, I have been with her mother since my step child was two years old. I treat her like my own - rewards, punishment, help her with her homework, try and help her with life's lessons, etc.

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the opportunity to participate in your project. I am actually a grandparent so answering many of the questions for prior life when children were a daily part of my life.

During portions of the year we live in proximity to most of our children and all of our grandchildren. In other portions of the year, we have been traveling and house sitting in various areas up and down the east coast so far. We intend to move west this summer so not really sure what the future has in store for us.

Create a great day.
